Dear Matt,
A Carrot A Day
A dose of recognition for your employees
The Million-Dollar Question
Is it ever too early to begin thanking your
employees? Of course not. In fact, we
recommend to start during the interview
process. When you are hiring a new employee,
ask the person to share her most memorable
work-related recognition moment-when she was
honored for above-and-beyond behavior. Not
only is this a great way to uncover an
applicant's strengths, but also can give you
an idea of what types of rewards will be
valued by this person in the future. Ask what
she did to earn the reward, what she received
and how it made her feel.
(Sorry, but if the potential employee says
something odd, such as receiving a jug of
moonshine for winning the Miss Burley, Idaho,
pageant, we couldn't begin to tell you what
you do with that information.)
Next, use recognition soon after the
employees starts on the job to buoy morale.
| Making Your Site Search Engine Friendly - Spiderability |
 |
|
One of the keys to obtaining top rankings, or
ANY rankings for that matter is making sure
that the search engines can properly spider
and index your site. This means doing
whatever you can to make sure the search
engines are able to reach each page of your
site as easily as possible.
When I talk to my clients about
spiderability, I'm generally referring to two
things...
- Are all the links in the site true
hyperlinks that can be picked up properly by
the search engines.
- Are all the pages within the site
reachable within 2-3 clicks from the
homepage.
So let's go over the above two areas of
concern.

| The Magic of Hosting a Green Website |
 |
|
For those of you who may not know, web
hosting is defined as an Internet service
that allows individuals and organizations to
make their websites accessible via the World
Wide Web. Web hosting companies provide the
hosting environment, storage, Internet
connectivity, security, redundancy and
support necessary to present a website to the
public.
Dreamscape Multimedia now offers web
hosting to our clients through LiquidWeb's
bullet-proof datacenter and 24/7 support.
With that comes a wonderful suite of products
for our customers including content
management, polling, shopping carts, blogs,
and more. Additionally, we have just been
recognized by the Environmental Protection
Agency for our work with renewable energy
certificates, which we purchase when our
hosting clients upgrade
their accounts to
'green'.
Why take this on? The decision
to offer hosting came from needing to ensure
our clients had support when they needed it
most...

| Project Spotlight: Symmetry Jet Website |
 |
|
To assist with getting the word out about
their re-emergence into the aerospace
industry, Symmetry Medical Jet asked
Dreamscape Multimedia for a website. They
knew they wanted the site to produce leads
for their sales team, and it had to be easy
to update. We began with the marketing in
mind and built the site content around their
selected industry keywords. Based on the
powerful phpWebsite content management
system, they are now able to add, delete and
alter their content from anywhere, at any
time. Within the two weeks of launching the
site, Jet had already received their first
qualified lead! Needless to say, they were
pleased and so were we. Dreamscape
Multimedia continues to promote the symmetryjet.com
site
through a combination of Google AdWords,
Analytics and directory service listings.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has
recognized Dreamscape Multimedia as an EPA

It's not that we've been deliberately
neglecting our own newsletter. It's just
that we've been a little busy and, of course,
it boils down to doing for our clients before
we do for ourselves. So our monthly
newsletter became a quarterly newsletter,
became a semiannual newsletter. With any
luck and perseverence, we'll see it become a
quarterly newsletter again, but let's not pin
our hopes just yet.
So what have we been doing? When we're not
working on client work, we've been upgrading.
Dreamscape Multimedia now offers web hosting
and have just been recognized
by the EPA for
our work towards protecting the environment.
Additionally, we've been refining our focus
more towards the web work to accommodate the
growing client demand for it (read
what one very pleased customer had to
say.) We're looking
forward to a productive summer and launching
some great client projects such as the
Davenport
Masonry
estimating tool and the Medusa's Medallions
e-commerce website.
On a personal level, I would like to announce
the arrival of my newborn daughter. We now
have two under two and officially a complete
set. Sovereign Mei was born on 9/13/2006 at
11:44 a.m. and is now beginning to crawl.
Does the fun ever stop? I hear it doesn't!
Hope this finds you well. Enjoy your summer!
In support of your efforts,
Matt Schoenherr
